Dining in on Valentine’s Day

As Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, some of us are dreading the thought of dining out and booking that impossible reservation.

With V-day landing on a Wednesday this year it seems like an inopportune day to go out to crowded restaurants after a long day at the office.

This year, LIG recommends that all of the grubbies out there enjoy this loving holiday at home with the ones we care about most.

We’re not talking about Chinese take-out or ordering a pizza pie to-go. We’re talking about take-out and a dining experience that has been transformed.

We’ve chosen our top three picks for fine dining take-out and/or delivery on Valentine’s Day.

1. Maroni Cuisine, Northport

This is a cozy bistro located in Northport village that will make you feel right at home. Meals are served in specialty red Hot Pots® to stay in or to-go. Maroni’s Original Hot Pots take-out menu features grandma Maroni’s 100-year-old gourmet meatball recipe and rustic Pomodoro spaghetti sauce. If meatballs aren’t your choice, other items on the menu include Linguine and Clams, Ravioli Pomodoro or Vodka Sauce and Penne Vodka with Chicken. With a choice of a small, medium or large pot, prices range from $35-$75.

2. Sur Argentinian Steakhouse, Huntington

Sur differs from competition as a reasonably priced steakhouse with an Argentine-inspired menu. Huntington is an eclectic neighborhood of eats, but Sur definitely stands out as a great steakhouse, with a fun environment. However, they do offer a take-out option that can be very convenient as it is usually packed on holidays and weekends. This is a great option to get steaks to-go and chow down with the passion of Argentina.

3. Luce Ristorante, East Norwich

One of Billy Joel’s favs, Luce is a casual yet upscale Italian restaurant that provides take-out and delivery options. This humble and Tuscan styled restaurant is located in East Norwich and cooks all the Italian classics and has a wine to enjoy with each bite. A huge advantage for the “to-go” option of Luce is that you can order online.

If you’re lucky enough to make it out this Valentine’s Day than kudos to you. If not, I hope this has provided you with some good ideas for a less traditional, but equally as great Valentine’s Day meal. Love and grub to all.
